Cleaned my carb out and the bike still ran like shit. Turns out that the fuel was bad and it had a lot of water in it. No wonder the idle was all over the place. I was hoping it was just a bit gummed up in the bottom of the tank and a few runs out and maybe another carb clean would sort it.

I haven’t ridden my bike in a while and noticed recently that it wouldn’t run without choke or throttle, but with, it seemed to run fine. Gummed up carbs are my bet but unfortunately I don’t have the bike with me so that’ll be task #1 for whoever buys it.
What do you mean by yours running like shit? Just a jumpy idle? With our without choke? (assuming carbed)

Idle varying by 500rpm, weird reaction to the choke and massive hesitation. Originally rebuilt the carb because it wouldnt run above 2k rpm at all (clogged main jet).

Hmm ok definitely sounds worse than my bike. That’s unfortunate for you :(
